Yolandi du Plessis was born and grew up in Pretoria. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in BPrimEd (Education), her Honours degree in Religion and Biblical Sciences and Master's degree in Pastoral Narrative Therapy. She was also the recipient of the Chancellor's Medal for Excellence in undergraduate studies in 2004. Yolandi has taught a wide range of age groups. She has also been a guest lecturer for different educational authorities. She has lectured part-time at the University of Pretoria where she presented various academic subjects for education students in the Early Childhood Development Department.
Her love for nature has led her to complete a wide range of courses, including those on nature and wildlife filmmaking, and to write children's programs for a local television channel. Her passion for nature education and children inspired her to write the children's book Loxi's Bush-Fact Stories, which conveys facts about nature to children in a playful and fun way.
Gerrit Joubert was born in Cape Town in 1978. After matriculating he completed a Master’s degree in Photography in London at the London University of Arts as well as a BA (Hons) in Global Marketing and Advertising and a BA (Hons) in Global Communication Studies. He has worked as a photographer for international fashion houses across Europe and has exhibited some of his art in five European countries and in South Africa.
Gerrit has played a significant role in conceptualizing and animating characters and episodes for the local children's channel Koowee, where he has filmed and illustrated more than 400 episodes. He has also been involved in designing numerous album covers, including those for Koos Kombuis, Laurinda Hofmeyr, White Buzz in Britain, and Mikanic in the USA, among many others. Additionally, Gerrit has served as the Creative Director for mK, a local award-winning music channel.
Kim Wolhuter has always had a passion for nature and grew up in a family deeply involved in nature conservation. As a child, he spent years in the Kruger National Park, where his father served as the head ranger. His grandfather, Harry Wolhuter, was the first game ranger in Kruger and became a national legend after he single-handedly killed a male lion with a knife when the lion had pulled him from his horse.
After obtaining a degree in Grassland Science, Kim went to Botswana, where he managed a game farm. Later, he became the senior game warden at the Mlawula Nature Reserve in Swaziland. Today, Kim Wolhuter is a highly acclaimed professional wildlife photographer and filmmaker. In 1995, he founded his own wildlife film production company, Mavela Media, producing several award-winning films, including Hyaena Queen, Predators at War, Stalking Leopards, Beauty and the Beasts, and Impala – Basic Instincts, to name just a few."
